Her songs are laden with good messages which touch people’s hearts and change their lives. Namaganda uses simple language and effective imagery to sink her messages deep into the hearts of the people. Her powerful voice expressiveness and infectious smile are other marvels that have made her a treasure. GA_googleFillSlot( “AllAfrica_Story_Inset” );Namaganda also sings with confidence and conviction which is why her messages are taken seriously… Last year the singing couple released videos of their songs Abatalina Yesu and Yesu Anaatera kudda. Most of Namaganda’s songs are done in zouk which she sometimes fuses with soca beats. Ssennyonga on the other hand is more passionate about reggae. In 2000 Namaganda and Ssennyonga joined Christ Witness Church Ntinda where they continued their music ministry. Currently Ssennyonga is a co-pastor in the same church. Celebrating achievementNamaganda and Ssennyonga staged a thanksgiving musical concert at Victory Church Ndeeba on March 25 to celebrate the achievements of their 15-year musical ministry. The huge turnout of fans at the concert proved their immense popularity.

” The Specials”The Specials were local to me when I was a kid and I think Jerry Dammers is a genius. I loved how they took all these different kinds of music such as reggae ska and bluebeat and did something unique with it. So many people pretend that what they do is original but you could tell the Specials had a lineage. There was something really truthful about them. I still play their records now and they never sound dated. Dammers is turning into Sun Ra nowadays and he takes his time over things.

Secondly the fact that at some point I managed to get the crowd on their feet all night during a concert in Uganda. This got me thinking that indeed there are people out there who love and appreciate our efforts. Lastly starting up my own deejay unit and making it in this very competitive music industry is a feat few have achieved. Q: What of your saddest memories?A: When we lost our own reggae legend Papa Lefty Pupa Davies Sista Lucy and Man Apollo. The bad image that for long represented the local reggae scene due to the continued violence in some concerts in full glare of the media and the entire nation. This has dented the image of local reggae therefore challenging us to work extra hard to gain confidence within the society.
